How We Work
Construction Phase
Construction Phase
The role of the architect during construction can take shape in a number of ways. As a baseline service, we remain available to help interpret the drawings for the owner and contractor as the stages of the project unfold. Sometimes construction begins simultaneous to the interior development occurring. In this case, the architecture of the interiors is being designed and implemented in a synchronized manner as the shell of the building takes shape. There are typically periodic site visits on as-needed basis or at predetermined milestones in construction. Additionally, when requested by the owner, McConnell and Ewing helps to track construction costs and reviews the contractor's monthly applications for payment. The benefit here is to extend the teamwork that's been established through the design process into the construction phase and deliver a more collaborative and cohesive project. The result is a project where design, material and finish selections, construction, and budget are balanced consistently throughout the entire life of the project.
