Design Development
Up to this point, most if not all of the architecture that has occurred has been in sketch and freehand form. The design development stage marks the transition to hardline CAD or hand-drafted plans, elevations, and sections. In addition, the scale of these drawings is larger, revealing more detail and more precision than was previously attempted. In renovation work, this is the stage that the existing conditions are measured and verified if this has not already occurred. The goal of Design Development is further refinement, and these drawings, while they lack notes and dimension information, become the base drawings for the construction drawings that are to come. |
